Nichijou

Have you heard of the anime series The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? Maybe MM!? How about Azumanga Daioh? Lucky Star (bleh)? To be completely honest with you, I have only seen clips of one, watched the entirety of another, and am completely uninterested in one of these.

That aside, Nichijou is an anime series that would fall under the same category as these. Though, instead of being a load of fanservice, I feel this series pokes fun at the typical Japanese high school anime series by coming up with a series of 'everyday' happenings for each episode, condensing it into 18 minutes (as it is an anime series), and exaggerating some of these happenings to the point it reaches a 'what-the-honk' level of ridiculousness.

One of my favorite skits from the series. Rather than flaunt her body
like in a typical high school anime series, she puts a bag on her head
and pretends she's an invincible alien. However...

There are certain points in the anime that become like a drama, of course, but it usually involves some form of hilarious event.

Best friends fight too, right? Look at them! Not a single panty shot!
Just complete seriousness, a rather moving soundtrack, and the class troll.

... oddly enough, this became material for a blog. Funny how things work, huh. Anyway, moving right along. This anime series doesn't just revolve around three high school students as it would be utterly boring seeing as there isn't a single panty shot or undressing scene in the series. It also focuses on certain other characters... Like an eight year old professor, her robot with a wind up key in her back, and a 20 year old talking cat.

This is totally regular stuff. A girl with a wind up key in her back finishes watering
the garden, checks the time using a clock in her wrist, and then fires off a rocket
powered fist accidentally. Totally regular.

If I were to rate it on a scale from 1 to 10, I'd give it... actually, I don't think I can, seeing as this series is absolutely ridiculous (maybe mindless), perhaps even more so than Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann or Fist of the North Star. So here's a clip that basically summarizes my thoughts on it.

Basically.

Oh, it's almost Christmas right now, right? Here's a little something for you:
